Costa Rica’s climate consists of two distinct seasons: the dry season and the green season. The dry season begins in December and continues until April, while the green season lasts from May through to November. Virtually no rain falls during the dry season while it typically rains late in the afternoon during the green season. Although the precipitation levels differ throughout the seasons, the temperature in Malpais remains at a constant range of 22-32 Celsius all year. The area enjoys a 10-month tourist season per year, including a remarkable year round water temperature of around 28 Celsius.
